During 2023, Liberty Latin America supported more than 800,000 students through education initiatives, connected more than 4,000 households through JUMP program and donated more than $7,700,000 in cash and in-kind towards Foundation initiatives, detailed the company’s ESG report.

Also, Liberty Latin America achieved more than 23,700 employee volunteer hours and supported more than 125 Non-Governmental Organization (NGO’s) through Foundation activities.

"Our ESG report reflects our commitment to responsible business practices," said Balan Nair, CEO of Liberty Latin America. 

"Sustainable operations lead to better business outcomes. We have seen enhancements in operational efficiency, a reduction in costs, and a more engaged and productive workforce. On top of that, operating in this way helps us increase trust, build loyalty, and strengthen relationships with customers, employees, investors, and other stakeholders. By prioritizing sustainable growth, we are not only delivering on our objectives but also creating a more resilient company that generates valuable returns for all stakeholders,” expressed the CEO of the company.

The ESG report highlights the progress Liberty Latin America has made towards supporting the company’s purpose to connect communities and change lives, narrowing the digital divide.

An example of this effort is JUMP program, that has been launched across several Caribbean countries and is designed to bridge the digital divide across the Caribbean by providing broadband service to qualifying low-income households.

Liberty Latin America worked to consolidate the coverage of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions tracking across the group. 

This broader scope enables the company to have a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of its carbon footprint, driving more effective strategies for reducing emissions.

“As a broadband and connectivity provider, we recognize our industry is energy-intensive by nature. For this reason, we have made it a yearly goal to track our consumption by energy type across our business operations,” the ESG reports said.

During 2023, the company consumed a total energy of 1,524,500 GJ, 95% of grid electricity and 27% of renewable energy.

Furthermore, in 2023, like in previous years, Liberty Latin America fostered initiatives centered on reusing and responsibly recycling a variety of products. 

As part of these initiatives, the company focused on recovering and refurbishing their customers’ premises equipment (CPE) to then reinsert them into our supply chain through a reverse logistics program.

As a result of this effort, the company recycled 1,035,223 pounds and eliminated 363 tons of CO2. 

As part of their commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), women represented 41% of the global employees and 39% of the managerial positions. The Liberty Latin America annual survey found that 48% of the employees self-identified as Latino/a and 28% as Black, 4% identified as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and 3% disclosed having a disability.
