Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, the international wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom, and China Mobile International Limited (CMI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Mobile, have signed a preferred partner agreement to deliver enhanced access and transport services for their global customers with connectivity needs across both Europe and Asia. The partnership entails the launch of an additional POP (Point of Presence) at CMI’s data center in Moerfelden, near Frankfurt in Germany, on November 1, 2021.

Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier access and transport services offered via the new Moerfelden POP include Lambda Connect, a high-bandwidth optical service delivering cross-continental connectivity, as well as Encrypted Lambda, which safeguards data from unwanted breaches. Further solutions encompass highly secure and reliable IP VPN services, Ethernet Line/LAN services, Secure Cloud access to all relevant cloud service providers in Europe and Asia, as well as a direct connection to the internet via IP-Connect.

“Our new partnership with China Mobile International allows us to provide direct connectivity to Asia and vice versa to all of Deutsche Telekom’s German and international POPs, especially in the Central and Eastern European region,” says Rolf Nafziger, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier. “The new Moerfelden POP will therefore immediately benefit our customers who are already present within the CMI data center and also provide unprecedented opportunities for cloud providers.”

“The addition of a Deutsche Telekom POP at our Frankfurt hub strengthens our network footprint in Europe, which enables us to fulfil our promise to provide a high service quality for our customers, for their immediate needs as well as for the future,” says Mr. Shen Weizhong, Director & Executive Vice President of China Mobile International. “CMI and Deutsche Telekom have a long-term partnership in multiple areas and this new collaboration accelerates the development of a new digital infrastructure of “Connectivity + Edge + Capability”. We are looking forward to more in-depth collaboration with Deutsche Telekom for business innovation.”

The new facility in Frankfurt is CMI’s second data center in Europe. It was launched in February 2021 and marks an important milestone for CMI’s global network growth. It is set to serve as both, an International Network Exchange hub and an Internet Data Center (IDC), connecting CMI’s Singapore and UK data centers, Global Network Center in Hong Kong, and its extensive global mobile communications and cloud network infrastructure.
