The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team recently assisted local government agencies in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, by providing temporary connectivity following a ransomware attack.

At the request of local officials, the team supplied over 80 Verizon Frontline communications solutions to help county agencies restore operations at multiple locations.

"We appreciate having a mission-critical partner like Verizon Frontline that assisted us in providing a temporary network to resume public safety and other government essential functions in a time of crisis,” said Gregg Bird, Emergency Management Coordinator for Grand Traverse County.

In June 2024, a ransomware attack hit Grand Traverse County and Traverse City, causing significant service disruptions, halting court proceedings, and affecting city and county operations. This attack followed an attempted spear phishing attack in April that was stopped by security software and staff.

Developed for over 30 years in collaboration with public safety officials and agencies, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team offers free and around-the-clock emergency assistance to government agencies and emergency responders by setting up portable cell sites, Wi-Fi hotspots, charging stations, and other devices.
