Today there are about 2.3 billion people online with over a billion from across the Asia Pacific region. Five billion mobile devices are connected and 800 Exabyte’s of data are being accessed. In 2002, mobile surpassed fixed line penetration; in 2010, smartphones and tablets surpassed sales of desktop and laptops; and in April this year, mobile traffic over the network in India surpassed desktop traffic. And the trend is growing. There is only one commonality with all of this: data is at the forefront of each and every business. Demand for enablers (smartphones and tablets) in accessing this data is growing exponentially.
This edition of Telecom Review Americas is meant to bring you information and ideas about the carrier environment. This includes both wired and wireless, on land and under the sea. Everywhere you look from M2M to your basic carrier transmission capabilities, the world is changing.
Telecom Review is always present at industry events and this fall is no exception. We look forward to seeing you at the Asia Carrier Conference, Comptel, TIA, State of Sea and the Broadband World Forum, to name a few. Please stop by our exhibit booth when you are there as we always look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!
